From snow to sunshine in just 3 hours!

We enjoyed a great weekend in Olympia with family and friends. You can imagine our surprise to wake up to snow on Saturday morning. We took Cole outside to experience not only his first snow but also the latest snow on record in Washington history. Notice the look on Cole's face looking up at the snow trying to figure out what it is. He is such a desert baby, spoiled by the sunshine! The entire Blubaum clan was happy to land back home in Phoenix and a high of 85 degrees. Cole had a chance to see his Grandpa and Nana Fromhold while we were in town. During dinner we decided to put Cole in the highchair so he could sit with us. Unfortunately we were using all the chairs that could be used to strap the booster seat to, so Cole was straped to a step ladder. He loved every minute of it and assured me that he is ready for his highchair and cereal! We will start that with him when we return from Florida next weekend.

Also on the agenda during our visit was a surprise party for Grammy. She retired from the credit union (well, partially retired...still working 3 days a week) in January. Grandpa Al threw a fantastic party for her...she was definitely surprised! Cole was a trooper during the party and was adored by all. He finally drifted off to sleep around 8:30pm...
It was a great weekend but we are glad to be home for a few days. Next trip...Destin, Florida! We will leave next Thursday and spend 4 days in Florida to celebrate the wedding of our friends Courtney and Eric. Grammy arrives on Wednesday and will be taking care of Cole while we are away. She is one lucky Grammy...she is getting to spend so much time with Cole!

Have a great week!

Hangin' with Grammy & Grandpa

Cole has had a great week! He enjoyed 4 days with his Grammy & Grandpa Blubaum. I spent the last 4 days up in Seattle working while Cole hung out in Olympia.

When we picked him up this morning he was all smiles to see Mommy & Daddy. Grammy looked relieved and happy that reinforcement had arrived. They took excellent care of baby Cole and loved spending time with him. Good news is I get to love all over my baby boy again, bad news is I have to resume being up in the middle of the night with him. Although, I can't say that I was getting great sleep at the hotel. Nothing like having to set your alarm to pump in the middle of the night. My hotel mini bar was transformed into a milk storage facility. Hope they don't charge me for all the beer and wine I removed to make room for the milk.

During Cole's stay with Grammy & Grandpa, he took a trip to meet Grandpa's friends that drive school bus with him. Here is a picture of Cole and Grandpa -- his first ride on a school bus!

We are just getting settled to enjoy a weekend with family in Olympia. It's freezing cold here with chance of snow showers tomorrow. Glad to see it is 90 degrees in Phoenix. Ugh!

Cole on an airplane...take two!

I realized I hadn't posted any pictures of Cole for awhile and today gave me the perfect opportunity. This afternoon Cole and I went to a bridal shower for my friend Courtney. Cole and I had a heart to heart this morning and he agreed to be on his best behavior. He kept his word and was a little angel. While this was a wonderful thing, it simply furthered the rumors that I am a liar and that Cole really never crys the way I describe him to. Who are we kidding...he is my little angel.

Here are some recent pictures of Cole (from today and the last couple of weeks)...

On Monday Cole will take his 2nd trip on an airplane. He and I will fly to Seattle for the week. I will drop him off in Olympia on Monday evening to stay with Grammy Virg and Grandpa Blubaum for a few days while I work up in Seattle. Thursday night Shawn will fly in and then we'll spend the whole weekend together. We'll even have a chance to see Grandpa Bill and Nana. Mommy is a little bit nervous about this upcoming airplane trip. The last time Cole was only 7 weeks old and slept the entire flight. I am thinking now, at 5 months, that he is not going to be as accommodating. I'll be sure to report how it goes. I think I just have to take my sister's advice on this one...if he starts fussing just do not make eye contact with anyone!

We'll report next week from gray, rainy Seattle.....
