Dude, Nice Hawk!

One of my favorite things about daycare is from time to time Miss Salina (one of Cole's teachers) will send him home with a mohawk. It always makes me so happy to pick him up and see him with the hawk, it just brings a smile to my face to think of my little baby boy as a Rocker in the making (no tattoo's please Cole!!).
Try and look past the drool...we're still teething here...

We are so excited that Grandma Grentzer arrives today! We plan to play in the pool with Cole and just enjoy her visit. 104 this weekend, so I am sure lots of pool time will be logged. Here is Cole saying "Grandma...I am ready for you...!"

Road Trip!

We survived. 14 hours in the car between Saturday and Monday. We survived. I give Cole credit for being a trooper. We headed to LA this weekend so Cole could meet his Great Grandma and other family. It was a great trip and Cole was adored by all!

Cole got some new clothes from his Great Grandma and we put the shorts on his head. He decided that the tags tasted really good!
We also learned over the weekend that Cole loves sweet potatoes. So far, he loves anything we put in his mouth. Today he tries carrots. I am sure we'll learn he is a fan as well.
We have another exciting weekend ahead. Grandma Grentzer arrives on Friday for a 5 day visit. She hasn't seen Cole since Christmas. She will be shocked by how much he's grown!

Show mommy how the piggy's eat!

Green Peas...a hit! Cole is really into his new foods. He woofs down the cereal and today he enjoyed a jar of peas. Turns out he is my son after all, as Shawn would never touch green veggies. Here is a picture of Cole enjoying his lunch!

Look Ma, no hands!

He's been working on it for awhile, but tonight was Cole's first time of really sitting up all on his own. For a few weeks now he has been doing a "tripod" sit where his hands hold him up between his legs, but tonight when I sat him down to practice, he stayed up all on his own for quite some time. We were so excited and captured his big moment!
We won't say he's ready to stand all alone, but we are excited to report that he also held himself up standing with his hands on the ottoman in his room tonight. Those thunder thighs are hard at work and paying off!

Welcome to our OOL, notice there's no P in it...

Cole's first time in the pool! It started a bit traumatic...he is apparently not a fan of sunblock, or at least not a fan of how cold it was on his skin. Next traumatic moment, the minute the feet hit the pool. In his defense, the pool is a BIT colder than normal for our first dip of the year. But, it is Mother's Day and for my gift...I wanted my nugget in the pool. We eased him in...toes, legs and then did the big dip. He ended up loving it and we floated around for quite some time! He was kicking his legs all over, convincing Shawn that he may end up being an Olympic swimmer. This would be an amazing feat seeing as he comes from a mommy and an auntie that can't swim!

I'm not to sure about this...

Rice cereal...we are on day 2 and Cole still isn't sure he is into this new food. We had a great time yesterday with his first feeding. Shawn videotaped the whole thing and we got some pictures as well. He had his second experience with cereal today during Mother's Day brunch at Garduno's. He actually spit some out at me...on Mother's Day!! Tomorrow his teachers will continue to work with him on loving the cereal so we can move on to yummy veggies in the next few weeks. Here are some pictures of the big day! Here is a picture of Cole with our friend Katie. This was taken at brunch this morning. Katie is pregnant expecting a baby in mid-October!

Not just your average baby!

This morning was Cole's 6 month check up. We are definitely entering a fun and exciting time with our little man. I mentioned in an earlier post that Cole will have his first day in his big boy high chair tomorrow and it will be just a couple of weeks before he'll be eating green veggies (Daddy's favorite!). Below are Cole's current stats. While they show he is "average"...we know better. We know he is a boy wonder and highly advanced. :)
Height 26 3/4" (50th-75th%)
Weight 17lb 15oz (50th-75th%)
Head 17 1/4" (50th%)

Rubber Ducky, you're the one...

So I am in love with Cole's new bathtub. It has made bathtime so much fun! I decided to take some pictures of him enjoying his new "toy." I tried to keep these tasteful...I hope I was successful!

Are we related?

So my mom mentioned that she really thinks Cole resembles me as a baby. To prove this she scanned a picture from 1977 (seriously, check out the furniture!). Here it is...I am curious to hear if others think we look alike.

What IS new with the Blus?

It's been a long time since our last post -- time for an update! Life is great in Chandler, AZ. We are totally in denial that summer is around the corner. We are already up in the 90's and I am realizing I wish I had these arms ready for summer tanks. Oops, time has really flown by. Shawn and I returned Sunday afternoon from our weekend trip to Destin, FL. We enjoyed 4 days in "Lower Alabama" and witnessed the beautiful wedding of our friends Courtney & Eric. The weather was kind of a bummer and we still can't believe that during the entire trip we never quite found our way to the beach. Here are a couple of pictures from the trip...
Another big milestone passed this weekend...Cole is 6 months old! Our little man is really growing up. Yesterday was a big day...Cole got a highchair, a toothbrush and sippy cups. Saturday will be his first day eating cereal and we are excited to document the meal on film! He has started to sit up and is just as curious as ever. He is a total drool machine making mommy wonder if a tooth will spring up soon? I am amazed at what a busy boy he is...the legs are always moving, which was making bath time a challenge. We purchased Cole a new bathtub that is an inflatable duck, so mommy can stop worrying about him bonking his head on the old plastic one. We let him try it out on the carpet before putting it in the water -- he loves it! When you press the beak it goes "quack, quack, quack." Cole looks around wondering where the noise is coming from.
