The San Francisco Treat

This is going to be one difficult week. First, I am sick. Sick...sick...sick. Second, I am in San Francisco and have to work a tradeshow today and conduct 2 days of sales calls (and did I mention I am sick?). Third, I am away from my baby Cole for 4 days/3 nights. Ugh! I miss him already and found it comical that the first night I could get a full nights rest, I still woke up at 2am (his normal wake up time) and texted Shawn...sure enough the boys were up! Maybe I am more in tune with that baby than I thought!

I thought I would post this picture of Cole, as it's the one I received last night via my cell phone. He was happy as can be rocking away in his swing in his PJ's. These are the moments when you think to yourself, what could be the harm in leaving him in his swing all night if he is happy? Luckily, Daddy knew better and put Cole to bed.

When I return home, I hope to post Shawn's "pirate" picture. I am taking him for eye surgery on Friday afternoon and he will be wearing a patch for about 24 hours. Arrrr Matey!

I really love my teething rings...

Cole has just recently discovered his kung fu grip and all the things he can hang onto for hours on end. Today he has really been into his teething rings...he got a grip on them a couple of hours ago and hasn't let go. Not even as he drifted off to sleep. He wore himself out playing and fell asleep right on the blanket on the floor. Notice what is still in his hand...
Today Cole experienced daycare for the first time. He had a 2 hour stay with Miss Andrea and Miss Stephanie. When I picked him up he was as happy as could be, but I think it was because the infant room has a ceiling fan to watch go around and around. A personal fav of Cole's. His teachers said he did good...a couple of melt downs when all the attention wasn't focused on him, but said that was to be expected for his first visit (or after 4 months of being pampered at home). My sister will take him a couple of times next week for more trial runs before March 3rd arrives.

Have a great weekend!

Goodbye Grammy!

After 6 weeks of great help, tomorrow we say goodbye to Grammy Virg. It has been wonderful having her here to help with Cole and with managing life in general. We have a real wake up call coming after she leaves tomorrow! Cole will get to enjoy a week of being spoiled by his Auntie and then March 3rd he begins Sunrise Preschool. I am already nervous about the first drop off. I am going to do some practicing with him this week, taking him for a couple of hours so that he can ease into being with his teacher (Miss Andrea) and the other babies. Everytime we go visit it's so peaceful and the babies are so happy. Hmm...I wonder how they will like Cole (this is code for my child is high maintenance and uses the lungs god gave him!).

I had hoped to share pictures from our visit to the zoo on Sunday, but unfortunately (or should I say fortunately) Cole slept nearly the entire visit. The highlight for mom was when he woke up in front of the Javelina's and I got to nurse him, on a bench, right there in front of the Javelina's. Someone told me they thought that sounded right out of the Lion King with the "Circle of Life." It was hardly that glamorous!

More from the Blu's later this week...but now a picture of Cole for your viewing pleasure...

Cole's new toy!

Well, new to Cole at least. Another fabulous loaner from Cousin Lukas...the activity center! Our child that loved to entertain himself for hours in the bouncy chair has grown tired of the buzzing blue fish. So...we have pulled out the activity center and found a winner! Here are some pictures of Cole playing in it this weekend. It was 77 degrees on Sunday, so we were playing outside (hence the dorky sun hat). You will see he is also a big fan of his Cookie Monster stuffed animal from the Miller's...thank you Mike & Anne!

We seem to be moving forward in some areas with Cole and regressing in others. At 9 weeks he started sleeping through the night. He would sleep a 9 hour stretch and I was thinking it was a little piece of heaven. I was also thinking that it would stay that way. Oh no, not so much. 2 weeks ago we started with the waking up all night again. So...our new schedule seems to be in bed at 8:30pm...up at 2:00am...up again at 4:00am. I have mastered nursing him in bed (while lying down), so that at 4am I bring him in our room and he eats and then we both sleep for another hour. We are making it work for now, but I am hopeful that my good sleeper returns soon.
Grammy Virg leaves next Wednesday to go back to Olympia. Next Friday my sister and Lukas come back to town and will be here for a week, taking care of Cole while I go to San Francisco on business. After they leave on March 1st we will not have visitors again until May, when Grammy comes back to watch Cole while Shawn and I go to Florida for our friend Courtney's wedding. All of the visitors and help from family has been amazing...we are so blessed.

We are taking Cole to the zoo on Sunday and will post some pictures from our outing!

Cole is 3 months old!

We survived a few things in the last week...1) Mommy's first time away from Cole. I had to go to Orange County on Friday and returned Saturday. Then I left again on Tuesday to go back to Orange County and returned this afternoon. The good news is Shawn DID hear the monitor in the middle of the night and took excellent care of baby Cole in my absence (he might have had a little help from Grammy Virg). 2) We survived Super Bowl XLII in Phoenix. No party this year, just the 4 of us and the big screen tv. It was a wild time in the Valley of the Sun and no, we didn't get tickets to the game. 3) Cole is now 3 months old! Super Bowl Sunday was his 3 month birthday. He is such a love! See below for recent photos of Cole. Thank you to Lukas for the bib's...they are definitely a hit in our house!
